The (week long) move (in the dark)…
So, I’m cheap. I’ll be the first to admit it; I hate spending money if I don’t have to. Moving from a one bedroom apartment to a three bedroom house made us feel like we barely had anything and there would be no way we would EVER be able to fill a whole house. That said, there wasn’t much to move, and there’s no reason to hire movers, right? So wrong!
We closed on our house two weeks before our lease on our (perfect little) apartment was up so I had the brilliant idea to casually move a car load of things each time we visited our new house. Long story short, that makes for a long, painful two weeks!
The Penthouse was unique in many ways, one of them being how private it was. Our apartment sat on top of the building so it wasn’t anything like any other unit. In order to get to our apartment you would take the elevator to the 12th floor, walk down the long hallway to the stairwell then walk up the stairs to 13 – it was very cool… unless you’re moving.
The stairs then The hall
Each night we would get home from work around 6pm, take about a million painful trips down the stairs to the 12th floor, load up the freight elevator, then down to 1, out to the car. Next, the 45 minute drive to the house for some unpacking and cleaning. We ended up moving for two weeks, at night, in the dark. I wonder what the neighbors think of us!
